Altit Fort

Altit Fort  is an historic fortress at Altit town in the Hunza valley in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It became at the start home to the hereditary rulers of the Hunza kingdom who carried the name Mir, although they moved to the incredibly younger Baltit castle close by three centuries later. Altit Fort and particularly the Shikari tower is around 1100 years old, which makes it the oldest monument inside the Gilgit–Baltistan. The fortress has received the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2011.
